Description

Spring washer: DIN 127 washer split at one point and helically curved. As a result, the washer exerts a spring force between the head of the fastener and the substrate, causing the washer to be firmly pressed against the substrate and the bolt thread firmly against the thread of the nut or base, creating more friction and resistance to rotation.

USABILITY: Various metric lock washers have a left side spiral, which means they can only be used with screws that have a right-hand thread to prevent clockwise rotation due to vibration. When tightened, their unevenly slotted ends bite into unhardened nuts and bolts, providing a tighter grip than curved or corrugated washers, but only in right-hand rotation applications.

Zinc coated alloy steel: fittings commonly used in mostly dry environments. The zinc plating provides temporary rust protection, but once worn the steel will rust. All these washers are stronger and more wear-resistant than stainless steel.
